The parTy The who’s who of interior design gathered at the monumental Merchandise Mart to honor Tracy Hickman, the winner of the Chicago Interior Design Hall of Fame award.
The perks Guests enjoyed food and beverages provided by Mercedes-Benz while mingling with industry professionals and celebrated nominees.
The players More than 500 industry professionals, along with a jury of Design Center and Luxe Interiors + Design representatives and runners-up Shea Soucie, Martin Horner and Darcy Bonner. Other nominees included: Susan Fredman, Alex Jordan and Dan Smieszny, Gary Lee, Suzanne Lovell, Margaret McCurry, Frank Ponterio and Tom Stringer. –RH
The PaRtY Unison Home invited guests to celebrate the opening of its new store—and studio—in West Town.
The party marked the beginning of a new branch of this innovative textile-centric design teams’ retail arm. The PlaYeRS A mix of designers and collectors filled the space on Fulton Street, from Macy’s couture buyer Phyllis Collins to Brian Snow of SemelSnow.
The highlightS “This was the most fun I’ve had in my business in years,” says Golden Triangle owner Doug Van Tress. The “East meets West, Ancient meets Modern” theme served as the inspiration for both the collection and the party, with food from Singha restaurant, Alsatian wines and the musicians of Electric Shadows playing electronic, Western classical and authentic Asian instruments. –RH
ThE PARTy Design Industries Foundation Fighting Aids (DIFFA) invited guests to Love Makes the DIFFArence at the Greenhouse Loft for an evening of food, drinks, dancing and live music for a good cause.
ThE PlAyERs Interior designers, architects and other industry and nonindustry personnel alike came together to help the effort.
ThE hIghlIghTs Music was provided by M13, a 13-piece ensemble, as well as Toast and Jam Djs. Guests enjoyed nosh by Hearty Boys, City Provisions and Entertaining Company while sipping Goose Island and commemorating their time in the photobooth.
ThE BoTTom lINE Proceeds benefited the Excellence in Care Grant Award, supporting the fight against HIV/AIDS. –RH
The PARTy Casa Spazio and CS Interiors gathered on Hubbard Street to celebrate the magazine’s Winter Issue and the grand opening of owner Mike Cao’s showroom in River North. Appropriate for the neighborhood, this Italian retailer will carry premier furniture and décor to fit a contemporary and luxurious lifestyle.

The Party Top Chef and restaurateur (Girl and the Goat) Stephanie Izard celebrated her new cookbook entitled Girl in the Kitchen with a book signing at Jayson’s home on Clybourn Avenue.
The PerkS Fans sipped Prosecco and spooned Izard’s very own browned butter and squash soup while waiting in line to meet the famous chef.

THe paRty In March, Haute Living opened its doors to fans of fine artist Jaime Hayon, known for the quirky line of porcelain creations entitled The Guest that he made in conjunction with Lladró Atelier.
THe sceNe Guests eagerly awaited the opportunity to meet Rosa Lladró, president of Lladró, who flew in for the exhibit opening. The exhibition will be on view through mid June and will also include additional pieces from The Fantasy by Jaime Hayon, his first collection for the Spanish company. –RH
THe Party In a glass-covered building high above Chicago, an artist known for his technique of reverse-glass painting unveiled new works. Christopher H. Martin’s artworks focus on themes of nature and patterns, and at the January KM Fine Arts event he displayed 16 additions to his body of work at his exhibition Flow.
THe Scene Guests streamed throughout the space in the John Hancock Center absorbing the long-awaited arrivals from the critically acclaimed Martin, who has done commissions for a number of high-profile clients in the past couple of years. Local contemporary art enthusiasts came out to celebrate the event, where attendees had the opportunity to meet the internationally renown artist. –RH
