Is Chicago real estate booming? It sure looks like it. Just about every other day I receive an invite to another topping-off party. And I have to say: Our fair city has never looked better. Take, for instance, 4 East Elm, a gorgeous new apartment development from @properties in the Gold Coast. In the South Loop, here comes a high-end Hyatt, the brainchild of John Murphy (developer of the spectacular Lincoln Park 2550, among other properties). Chef Roland Liccioni will oversee a French restaurant within the hotel that will surely attract both locals and visitors. Speaking of 2550, LG Development is currently adding to the location, building three incredible single-family homes on the property. JDL Development and Harlem Irving Companies are amping up the luxury rental scene this fall with The Scott Residences—new apartments situated on Wells right in the heart of Old Town. And I am only scratching the surface. This fall we're all anticipating the opening of Richard Branson's first luxury Virgin Hotel, right here in Chicago. Though we don't have an exact date yet, we are so looking forward to the unveiling. On the design front, our home feature this month spotlights a one-ofa- kind River North penthouse, completely revamped and reconstructed by Ruthie Alan of Alan Design Studio. If you think the inside is a design feat, wait until you read about the garden space, designed by world-renowned landscape architect Hoichi Kurisu. The grand opening of Soho House is also this month, and we can't wait to get a glimpse inside. Though known mainly for its luxurious amenities and restaurants, Soho House also boasts an amazing collection of art; in this issue we have exclusive insights from the founder and curator. Speaking of art: If Soho House isn't enough, just wait. Next month, the latest edition of Expo Chicago arrives—a worldclass art fair that is entering its third year. Watch for our story in the next issue, filled with insight from the charismatic director Tony Karman. September is always a big month for us, as the social and cultural calendar ramps up, but this year watch out for something special, as we mark the 20 th anniversary of the magazine and of Modern Luxury. I can promise you one of our greatest issues ever. PRESIDENT EASTERN DIVISION AND GROUP PUBLISHER firstname.lastname@example.org
