DESIGN 82 angeleno JanUaRY 2015 twentieth photo by daniele albriGht; kathryn ireland photo by robert benson For British designer Kathryn Ireland , who has called L.A. home since 1986, 2014 proved a banner year. Aside from relocating her office and workrooms to a spectacular 8,000-square-foot space in the midcity area, the former star of Bravo TV’s Million Dollar Decorators created product lines for Scalamandré, Grange and C2 Paint. Concurrently, she was styling weddings, staging homes, teaching designer boot camps, pitching a new television show and publishing her fifth book, Inspired By... ($45, Gibbs Smith). With so many irons in the fire, it’s no wonder the designer, a brand ambassador for Aga ranges, is looking to buy a home in the Scottish countryside. But she isn’t pulling up roots. “The great thing about America is that there’s room for everyone’s ideas,” she says. “If you have the energy, patience and, above all, passion, you can do anything here.” This year, Ireland’s adding to her signature line of colorful hand-printed textiles and offering four more boot camps. Her new book may be about the people who have inspired her, but she is perhaps the most inspiring of all. Worldly goods
