We wanted to have this incredible black-tie a air. e second I described this to Marylen, she knew exactly Love at first sight may seem how to bring it to life,” says Mariamelia. Black and gold details were incorporated throughout the venue and a chandelier by Unearthed Vintage suspended from a tree branch. Guests indulged in fun-size hors d’oeuvres including mini grilled cheese sandwiches, tacos and chicken potpies by Bill Hansen Catering. A showstopping 10-tier Dominican cake with amaretto almond cream, dreamed up and created by Mariamelia’s mother, stole the spotlight. To get the party started, Rock With U, a DJ accompanied by live musicians on congas, trumpet and trombone, combined top 40 hits with Latin music and kept it going until worn-out guests left with personal boxes of Krispy Kreme doughnuts. For their honeymoon, the couple plans to explore Italy next summer after Bernardo nishes law school. Love at first sight may seem like a fairy tale to some people, but for Mariamelia and Bernardo, it was reality.
