domicile it for the first time. “When I found this place, it had the right combination of every-thing I was looking for—it had two levels and was bigger than all the other units I had seen,” he says. An austere space of steel and glass, Bobby V knew he needed some help to turn the contemporary condo into a home. “It was on the plain side, but I knew we could work on it,” he reveals. Bobby V enlisted designer Annysa LaMantia from the famed French furniture company Roche Bobois to help with the project. The space was a perfect canvas for Roche Bobois’ modern appointments. LaMantia found that “the concrete beams, window walls and tall ceilings were conducive to creating an ultra-contemporary environment.” Along with her team, which included ACE Carpentry of Atlanta, she made structural altera-tions to the space—replacing flooring, adding walls and glass, and building out ceiling structures to accentuate unique lighting elements. “We knew from day one that Roche Bobois was going to make a huge design statement in the space, so we wanted a dynamic environment that would support it,” she notes. Upon dis-covering that some of the existing finish-es were not as modern as the space would warrant, LaMantia reconfigured certain elements such as transforming an oddly placed built-in desk in the entryway into a statement-making waterfall. The designer worked closely with Yaacov Golan at C Lighting to ensure every element was perfect, and LaMantia affirms how the “dynamic lighting really completed the environment.” She care-fully selected the best pieces in the Roche Bobois collections: “We wanted to use furniture that would be aesthetic dynamite but, most importantly, that would last forever— quality was very important to Bobby.” When asked how he feels about the finished product, Bobby V reports that you can often find him asleep on his Philippe Bouix-designed “Allusion” Roche Bobois sofa. LaMantia selected the state-ment piece to anchor the open floor plan and to provide a sculptural and dynamic view from every point in the home. “I love my living room,” he explains. “I call it the red light district because we have these red LED lights that illuminate the main chandelier.” LaMantia sums up the project: “Ultimately, we created an environment that was m a g a z i n e Rhythm and Views D R&B superstar Bobby V turns up the volume on his new Cobb County pad with the help of Roche Bobois designer Annysa LaMantia. espite having worked with music industry mega-moguls like Ludacris, Lil Wayne and Jazze Pha, R&B superstar Bobby Valentino (“Bobby V”) prefers a quiet life when not performing. For a guy who travels all over the world performing, we wanted to make sure he had an amazing place to come home to.” Bobby V concurs, saying “We put our minds together to make the place come alive.”

Aside from a few years spent in Los Angeles, Bobby V is a lifelong Atlantan, so it is only fitting that his new home looks out over the city he loves. After attending North Atlanta High School, he went on to Clark Atlanta University and has always maintained his local ties. “A lot of cities are nice places to visit, but Atlanta’s a nice place to live,” he says. Even as his star burns brighter, Bobby V promises, “I will always have Georgia on my mind.” –Phebe Wahl
