TI BU TO CKE Y DA TS Y! Contributors June 2011 Senior Contributing Editor Chris Kelly met with Last Concert Café owner Dawn Fudge to pen our Houston Confidential story. Familiar territory for Kelly, who’s long been a fan of Fudge’s venerable live-music-and-more warehouse district dive, where hipsters fraternize with buttoned-up socialites. One enduring memory? Seeing Lynn Wyatt step from a limo, then boogie on the dance floor. “That’s what Last Concert does to you,” says Kelly. “You can let it all go. Come one, come all.” “It was refreshing to interview somebody who’s rubbed shoulders with big names, but who still has this cool, laid-back Texas charm,” says contributing writer Tara Seetharam , who chatted with buzzy Houston-reared actor and musician Ryan Donowho, the subject of this month’s Look Who’s Talking column. L.A.-based Donowho has a slew of movies out this year, including one with Christian Slater. “He seems really dedicated to his craft,” Seetharam adds. Shannon O’Hara visited the Last Concert Café for the first time to photograph its owner Dawn Fudge for this month’s Houston Confidential, and immediately took a shine to the place. “I was sort of sad I hadn’t known about it before,” says O’Hara, underscoring both the appeal and intrigue of the hideaway hangout. “It had a cool vibe about it, and a lot of history. I’ll definitely visit again.” O’Hara also photographed Lucky Strike Lanes bowling alley/upscale lounge for this months Loop Biz column.
