The photojournalistic work on display captures life in places like India, Cambodia, Manhattan and Houston. “A visual diary,” says popular editorial photographer Soefer, 30, an NYU grad who has shot for the likes of The Wall Street Journal and Houston magazine. “This is the other side of my work.” The show hardly counts as Soefer’s first widespread exposure. She snapped the famous mouthful of fries movie-poster image for the 2004 indie doc Super Size Me , and was a finalist in this year’s prestigious Hearst 8 x 10 Biennial . Expect shots both tender and whimsical, such as a woman’s bodacious backside framed by a colorful jumble of Houston Rodeo carnival rides. “They’re really engaging,” says gallerist Davis, “and this is what greatness is all about.” June 10-July 2 , opening reception June 10, 6:30-8:30pm.
