We d d os s i e r · ph o t o s · Getting Personal Creative engagement photos serve as special save-the-dates. | By Sarah Rumsey | Photography by Rachel Robinson & Hazel West Photography | A new Houston trend in engagement photo sessions has couples doing more with their pics than putting them on a shelf. With the help of clever photographers like Kristin Muntean of Hazel West Photography (713.367.1402, hazelwestphotography.com) and Rachel Robinson (713.315.0575, rachelrobinsonphotography.com)—and stylists who help set the stage for the perfect shot—brides-to-be and their grooms can get fun photos with props denoting the wedding date. Afterward, these shots make for a unique way to tell guests to mark the calendar. Plus, the props help ease nerves and make mugging for the camera easier (and smiles more natural). “Many brides are choosing to use their engagement photos as a unique way to personalize their save-the-date invitations,” Muntean says. Not only are couples getting save-the-dates and engagement photos checked off their endless to-do lists in one sitting, they’re also giving guests a little glimpse into their relationship and personal style while creating keepsake photos. “I meet with the couple, hear their story, then scout for locations,” she says. “I try to figure out what would fit them best and make them feel most comfortable. We really try to capture the bride and groom’s personalities when shooting their engagement photos.” Now all you have to do is get creative!
