Years later, Lamonte surprised Kenetta with a proposal at a restaurant in Harlem, New York. “It’s showtime!” he said as he dropped to one knee. ThE DETaiLs Kenetta is originally from Chicago and Lamonte is from Detroit, so the two themed their wedding “Chi-town Meets Motown.” ThE ParTy “You’re All I Need to Get By” was the first-dance song at the reception, where guests grooved to tunes from the ’80s, ’90s and beyond. –CG Planner Erin McDonald of Erin Patrick Events worked with Event Creative and Private Label Linens to dress the tables in the W Chicago City Center’s ballroom. Event Creative fulfilled the bride’s vision for a bouquet with a single-flower look. Kenetta’s Jimmy Choo wedding-day heels One of the couple’s suede-covered invitations by Maryland company Naked Eye Image Mr. Lamonte and Mrs. Kenetta Hayes. The bride’s gown was Oscar de la Renta from Mark Ingram Bridal Atelier in New York.
